Everybody has one or more files which they want to hide from the rest of the world. In the digital age, it has become much more easier to hide the files using specialized programs like SecretFolder. SecretFolder is a freeware application for Windows which allows you to hide and lock any folder and all its contents at the click of a button. Once a folder has been hidden by SecretFolder, it will not be visible to anyone through Windows Explorer. Only the user of SecretFolder would be able to unlock and unhide that folder after entering the correct password.
You can get SecretFolder either as a setup installer or as a ZIP archive (the ZIP archive has smaller size but contains the same file). The program is designed to work in all versions of Windows from XP to latest 8.1. After the successful installation of SecretFolder, you are shown a window where you have to setup a password for it. This password should be remembered, because without it you will not be able to unhide any folders that you have hidden with this program.
Being a very simple program, using SecretFolder is a very easy. After launching it from the desktop shortcut, you are asked for the login password. You can click on the Add icon to add the folder to the list. Later, if you want, you can remove the folder from the list. To lock a folder, select it from the list and click on the Lock button in the toolbar. This would lock and hide that folder from Windows Explorer as well as command prompt access (cmd.exe). You can also see that the status of the folder changes to Locked in the SecretFolder window.
Later when you want to unhide and unlock a folder, you can launch SecretFolder again; it will ask for the password, after which you can select the hidden folder and click on the Unlock button in the toolbar. The hidden folder will be unlocked and it will become visible in the Windows Explorer again.
In the options, which you can access by clicking on the Preferences button in the toolbar, you can decide whether you want to run SecretFolder at Windows startup. There is also an option to change the password.

It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows and works even in the latest Windows 8.1.
