Auslogics Disk Defrag Touch : Optimize Disk Drives on Your Touchscreen PC

Auslogics Disk Defrag has been the choice of millions for their hard disk defragmenting requirements for many years. Now they have released a new version called Auslogics Disk Defrag Touch that has been especially designed for the new touchscreen computers. It is perfect for anyone who is familiar with operating their computers through the touch screen interface. Auslogics Disk Defrag Touch comes not only with the usual defragging features for disk drives, but it also has some extra features like boosting the games speed and optimizing the applications performance. You can also configure it to automatically defrag any disk drive in your Windows PC.

Auslogics Disk Defrag Touch is very light on system resources. After the installation, you can launch it from the Start Menu in Windows 7 or from the Start Screen in Windows 8 or 8.1. You can swipe the application screen from right-to-left to hop from one feature to another like Defrag Drives, Boost Games, Optimize Applications and so on.

In the Defrag Drives section, you can choose any disk drive present in you computer or select a folder to optimize it. In addition to hard disk drives, it also supports memory cards, pen disk drives, solid state drives etc. After selecting a disk drive, you can tap on Analyze near the lower-left corner of your screen.

This will analyze the selected disk drives or folders for any possible file fragments. The scanning is very fast and you are notified about how many files are present in multiple fractions and the percentage of fragmentation on the disk drives. If the percentage is above 10%, then you should definitely go for defragmentation of the disk drives. You can either tap on Quick Defrag or Full Defrag to start the defragmentation of the selected disks.

The defragmentation is as fast as the scanning itself. Only in a few minutes the complete hard disk is defragmented and you are shown the results. The results show the percentage of the speed boost, fragmentation level before and after, total time taken and more.

You can switch to the Boost Games section by swiping the screen. In the game booster, you have to select a computer game installed on your computer and boost its performance by defragging the files associated with it. You have to select the main game file (for example, nfs.exe for Need for Speed Carbon) and it will recognize the game automatically. After selecting the games, you have to tap on Boost near the lower edge of the screen. This will optimize the game files and show you a report of the results.

In the Optimize Programs section, you can optimize the installed application to make them load faster. It automatically scans your system and shows you some of the well known application that it finds. You can select one or more applications, and then tap on Optimize icon near the bottom-left corner to defrag the files related to these programs. Just like in the Boost Games section, results are displayed and a percentage of speed boost is shown.

It also has a section labeled System Health which scans you system for junk files, obsolete registry entries, and your computer usage history. But it is a mere advertisement for the Auslogics BoostSpeed software as it does not allow you to remove any of the detected items.

In the Auslogics Disk Defrag Touch settings, you can choose to integrate it with Windows File Explorer context-menu, choose to ignore SSD disks (because defragging SSD drives reduces their life), autorun with Windows, defragment only smaller fragments, defragment in VSS compatible mode, etc. You can also schedule automatic defragmentation of selected disk drives.
