Depending on the nature of the job, some of us have to go offshore for work for shorter or longer duration of time. And when you are living in a foreign country for more than a year, then perhaps it is a good idea to open a local bank account and get a local bank’s debit card. Using a local debit card is way cheaper than using your international debit or credit cards. You can also use these local cards to change the country location in Google Playstore to so that you can view and purchase localized items offered by Playstore. Here is how:
- Playstore purchases are done through Google Wallet and so you have to update home address in Wallet to the local address where you are currently living in the foreign land. To do so, you have to visit https://wallet.google.com/, sign-in to your Google account and click on the gear-like icon to open the Wallet settings. Then change the address to your new address in the new country. You cannot use any fake address and phone number, since Google verifies everything.
- In the Wallet, you have to add a new credit card or debit card issued in the new country. You can add them from the Payment Methods section and simply add the new cards by adding all the cards information. You may also want to remove the older payment methods that you had been using so far.
- On your Android smartphone, you have to clear the cache of Google Playstore. For this open Android System Settings and then Apps. Select Google Playstore and then touch on Clear Data and Clear Cache buttons.
Google Playstore offers local items for your to buy and if you have moved to another country whether permanently or temporarily, then you can easily change the settings so that Playstore works with the new country location.
