My co-workers are really very nice and respect my privacy, but not everyone is that lucky. Some people complain about their co-workers who intentionally try to invade in their privacy by going through the contents of their computers every chance they get. Such nosy people always cause a headache the moment you see them snooping around. When I worked at the local employment office, there were two ladies who would jump on my computer whenever I left my desk even for a second. To thwart their attempts to go through the contents of my PC, I learned a little trick from an old timer in that office. Using this trick you can hide any disk drive in Windows 10.
First of all you should create a secondary partition in your computer’s hard disk because you cannot hide the system partition (on which Windows is installed). You can copy your personal files on this partition (drive) and then make it disappear from the File Explorer. Here is how:
- Press the hotkey Win+X and then select Disk Management from the menu that shows up.
- In the Disk Management, select the drive that you want to hide, right-click on it and then choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.
- In the small window that opens up, you will have the option to change, add or remove the drive letter through which it is accessed in the Windows File Explorer. Click on the Remove button to remove the drive letter associated with the selected partition. Then click on the OK button to save the settings.
- Now if you open Windows File Explorer, you will no longer see that drive there anymore.
If at any later you decide to make it re-appear once more, then you can repeat the same steps only this time you have to add a drive letter to the drive instead of removing one.
