If you buy new notebook computers these days, then you will realize that newer notebooks are supporting only and only Windows 10. If you try to install Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 on these computers, perhaps not all the hardware will work and the official websites of the manufacturers do not provide any device drivers for any other version other than Windows 10 (64-bit). This could become a problem for the people who are accustomed to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 and have never used Windows 10 or have just begun to experiment with Windows 10. If you are a newbie when it comes to Windows 10 and want to install fonts but are confused, then you can follow these different methods.
Method 1 – Double-click on the font files.
Yes, this is the simplest and easiest method. After downloading the TTF or OTF font file, you can just double-click on it. This will open up the “Font Preview” window. In this preview window, you can see how the font appears on your screen along with all the character set supported by it. If you want to install this font then you can click on the Install button on the top.
Method 2 – Drag-n-drop the font files.
The first method is obviously the easiest you can imagine. But it works only with single font files. If you want to install more than one fonts, then double-clicking on them and then clicking on the Install button will be a cumbersome and annoying process. If you want to install multiple fonts, then you can just copy all the files to the Fonts folder.
For this, you have to press the hotkey Win+R to open the Run dialog. In the Run dialog, type shell:fonts and press Enter. This will open the Windows Fonts folder. Now all you have to do is drag-n-drop all the TTF or OTF files that you want to install in this folder.
Method 3 – AMP Font Viewer
AMP Font Viewer is a third party application for font management and works perfectly well on Windows 10. Using this application, you can view both the installed and uninstalled fonts, install new fonts and remove previously installed fonts. In order to install new fonts, you have to switch to “Not Installed Fonts” tab, browse the folder where you font files are located, select the font and click on the Install selected font button. If you want to install multiple fonts, you can click on Install list of fonts button.
So these are the three easiest and simplest methods using which you can install new fonts in your Windows 10 PC. There are many other tools and scripts, but they make things much more difficult. And if you want to remove the previously installed fonts, you can use the AMP Font Viewer app or remove the font files manually from the Windows Fonts folder.
