HazteK TrueIP Basic Displays IP Address in Windows

Every time you connect to the internet, your devices are assigned an IP address. This IP address is the external IP address and through this IP address your device or network is identified on the internet. Depending on your internet connection type, you may have a dynamic IP address or a static IP address. A dynamic IP address changes every time you connect to the internet – it may also change anytime during an internet session – it all depends on how your ISP assigns you IP addresses. A static IP address, on the other hand, does not change and is assigned permanently to a client of the ISP.

If you have a dynamic IP address and you want to know your current external IP address, then you can use the free HazteK TrueIP Basic program. This small program comes packed as a standalone application and can be run without installation. However, the program is designed using .NET 2.0 and you have to install Microsoft .NET Framework redistributables before you can launch this program. You can launch TrueIP Basic by double-clicking on TIPBasic.exe file.

This will display a tiny window showing your current IP address. The IP address is displayed in the window’s title as well as inside the window. You can drag this window anywhere on the desktop and it will keep displaying you your IP address. By default it checks for IP address every 10 minutes, but if you want to instantly check whether your IP address has changed or not, then you can close TrueIP Basic window and restart it again.

But this is not all, you can customize the behavior of TrueIP Basic using the various command line parameters when launching it. For example, you can set the update frequency by using the –refresh parameter.  A reference for this command line parameters can be found inside “readme.txt” file that comes with the program.
