GridinSoft Anti-Malware is a relatively new anti-malware product that provides basic protection form malware. It was previously known as Trojan Killer and targeted mainly the malware that can be categorized as Trojans. But now in its new avatar, it is able to detect and remove malware, viruses, bots, spyware applications, Trojans, rootkits and even keyloggers.
After the installation of the GridinSoft Anti-Malware in your PC, it starts to scan your system for possible infection. The scan goes through a number of places in your PC including folders, processes and the registry files. The detected infected files are listed in the final report along with the recommended actions like quarantine those files or delete them.
Unfortunately, the trial version does not let you fix the detected malware. For fixing the threat, you have to buy the license. This is surprising as many of the leading antivirus solutions from the companies like ESET, Avast and Bitdefender allow you to remove the malware for free even in their trial versions.
Apart from the malware detection and removal, it comes with a number of tools like resetting the web browser settings. These tools are useful if you are experiencing problems like redirection of the web browsers, missing files, blocked sites, etc., after malware removal.
Even on our test computers with fresh Windows 10 installation and protected with Kaspersky Internet Security and scanned with ESET online scanner, it was able to find four adware files. This was a bit surprising, so we packed the said files in a ZIP archive and uploaded them to VirusTotal – the scan concluded that all the files were clean. Either the GridinSoft Anti-Malware is able to detect malware that even the industry leaders cannot, or it is using deceptive practices to impress the software users so that they are forced to buy the license.
