DisplayHDR Test : Verify HDR Monitor Parameters in Windows

HDR monitors are considered the best monitors as far as the professional graphics designers and photographers are concerned. This is because HDR (high dynamic range) monitors reproduce the colors and contrast to a great level of detail. HDR is not the only favorite for the professionals but these monitors are now all the craze even for the smart TVs and large screen high-resolution TV sets.

And now VESA (video electronics standards association) has released a long-awaited tool called DisplayHDR Test to test the HDR monitors for the various parameters and cross-check them with the ones mentioned by the manufacturer. This way you can know whether your HDR monitor is working as per the manufacturer specifications or if it is faulty or a little bit off.

DisplayHDR Test

DisplayHDR Test is a Windows app and can be downloaded from the Windows App Store in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. After the installation, you can launch it from the Start Menu and it will work right away. However, for it to work properly, you will need to have an external photometer to measure the brightness of your screen. And as is obvious you should have an HDR certified monitor connected to your Windows PC.

DisplayHDR Test

VESA has put all DisplayHDR monitors in three categories or tiers DisplayHDR 400, DisplayHDR 600 and DisplayHDR 1000 for the monitors that produce the maximum luminance of 400 nits, 600 nits, and 1000 nits respectively. In the results of the test, you will be able to see the actual measured luminance of the monitor and the DislayHDR tier it belongs to. Apart from this, the test also shows the color gamut for various standards standard RGB, AdobeRGB, DCI-P3, BT-2100 and the human eye.

DisplayHDR Test

DisplayHDR Test is not for everyone – it is meant only for the professionals who have all the necessary tools and the latest HDR screens for testing.

You can download DisplayHDR Test either by searching for it in Windows App Store or from https://displayhdr.org/.
