Google Measure App for Android : Measures Any Object that Camera Can See

A few weeks ago, Apple had mentioned briefly about a new feature in the upcoming iOS 12 with the help of which you could be able to measure objects. But Google developers have beaten Apple and released their own Google Measure app that is able to find the dimensions of any objects in the vicinity of the device that your camera is able is able to see.

But there is a catch – yup, it is designed only for the devices supporting ARCore technology. In case you have never heard of ARCore, it is a technology developed by Google that helps create augmented reality experiences. As such, anybody who wants to use the new Measure app must also install Google’s ARCore app first. In addition to the ARCore support for Google Measure to work correctly, the selected smartphone must have Android operating system version 7.0 Nougat or higher.

Google Measure

Using this Measure app with a supported Android smartphone, you will be able to measure any object and object in the immediate vicinity. How does it know the dimensions of the objects? Well, you have to provide the dimensions first. For this, you have to find a flat surface like a table-top or rectangular floor rug, then use the length tool to adjust it to the correct size. After this, you will be able to make the measurements for any other objects.

Google Measure application allows you to measure the length, width and selected areas of the object – all by tapping a finger on the screen. But at the same time, it is worth mentioning that the application may be wrong and can give you inaccurate results. But if you want to have a basic idea about the dimensions of an object then Google Measure will be much better than using that tape measure.
