Alternate Quick Audio : Record and Play Audio Files in Windows

Windows does come with a simple sound recorder application but it is only for very casual audio recording use. If you want to record for a longer duration and want to have many more options for the recording sessions, then you can use a free audio recording software like Alternate Quick Audio. This software does not offer as many options as Audacity, but it makes up for it by offering a much simpler and easier to use interface. The recordings can be saved in a number of audio file formats including WAV, MP3, FLAC and OGG.

Unlike some other recording software such as Audacity or Gold Wave, Quick Audio does not offer any advanced editing features. You can only record audio and play the pre-recorded audio files in Quick Audio. For recording audio, you have to just click on the record button in the toolbar. There is no option to select the source of the audio, it uses the default recording device for Windows. If you want to record a microphone or audio-in, then you have to make changes to Windows settings.

The program also contains an additional audio converter tool which allows the conversion of audio files (some video file formats, too) into other audio formats for example, WAV to MP3. You have to add all of your audio files that you want to convert into a different format. Then select an output format from the drop-down list and click on the Convert Files button.
