Oxenfree is a supernatural horror game that had made waves in the past. This game is now available on the Epic Games online store. And Epic Games is giving away Oxenfree for free for a short time. This giveaway is only one in a series of giveaways being organized by Epic Games in order to celebrate their first twelve months in business. They started out in December 2018 and since then they have planned to give away one game every two weeks for the next 12 months. This basically means that they will be giving away free games throughout 2019.
Oxenfree is an indie horror game designed by Night School Studio. In the game there are three main characters – a teenager girl Alex, her new step-brother Jonas and her friend Ren. The trio decides to spend some time on an island. When spending the night there, they start to explore it and accidentally open the doorway to an evil supernatural entity.
Rest of the game is about finding a way to stop this supernatural force and getting out of there safely. You control Alex and can explore all of the island. As the characters communicate to each other, their words appear in form of bubble dialogs like in a comic book. You can choose which communication to proceed with and depending on your choices the story unfolds further. Because you can choose different options, the ending of the story can be different for different players.
