Steam is giving away award winning strategy game Age of Wonders III which is very similar to another popular game series Age of Empires. In this game, you enter a vivid fantasy world full of mystical characters like elves, dwarves, orcs, draconians, goblins and even some of the monsters. You have to choose your allies and build an empire in this world. As it happens in RPG games, your empire will run into challenges and troubles that you have to tackle successfully being the ruler of the empire.
You can choose your character from a number of ruler characters – sorcerer, theocrat, rogue, warlord or archdruid. Depending on the character you choose, you will have certain powers and special abilities. Using these special powers, you have to build a great empire and fill it with arsenal for the future events.
After you have built your empire, you have to expand it by getting your hands on the treasures, gems and other resources available in near and far regions. You have to send missions to capture these treasures and bring them back to your empire. There are more then fifty maps and regions from where you can get these resources. You can also expand your empire by colonizing these new regions and starting new settlements.
What is a ruler without the knowledge of war tactics? You have to find brave men and equip them with deadly weapons so they are always ready to fight with the enemy. You can engage in online wars with as many as eight different players. The wars are turn based and heavily depend on your strategy and ability to master the armed forces of your empire.
