UpdateYeti is a software for finding the updates for all the installed software in a Windows PC. It can make it easy for you to keep your Windows PC safe by helping you download and install the latest stable versions of the various installer programs. It works on all computers running Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Before you can start using it, UpdateYeti requires one-time registration just like with all the Abelssoft software. During the registration, you can simply provide your email address and the free registration is complete. After this UpdateYeti scans all the installed software in your Windows PC and displays you a report about their update status.
In the its large interface, you can clearly see how many applications it is tracking for possible updates, for how many a free update is available, for how many a paid update is available, how many programs can be auto-updated, how many programs are already up-to-date and how many of these are configured to auto-update themselves.
If you want to see more information about any installed software then you can click on the info button next to it. On the next screen, you will see software details, your installed version and the version available from the internet and a link to download the new version.
In many cases, UpdateYeti displayed an older version as the update. For example, we have VLC Player version 3.0.8 installed on our test PC, but UpdateYeti considered version 3.0.1 to be the latest version. Similarly, we have 7-Zip 19.00 installed while it considered version 18.01 to be the latest version. It seems that UpdateYeti’s application database is not so much up-to-date itself.
When you click on any program or its download link, UpdateYeti sends you to “chip.de” website ( belonging to a German computer magazine) which is available only in the German language. You have to download the new version manually from this website. Furthermore, the website uses download helper software which means that instead of downloading the actual software you will end up installing a bunch of other things on your PC.
