Hyper Crypt is a file encryption, text and file hashing tool for Windows. It is not really designed for actually helping the people for everyday encryption and decryption of files. But it appears to be more of a showcase tool to display the strengths of various encryption and hashing algorithms available to a Windows user.
Hyper Crypt is portable in the sense that you don’t have to install it on your system but it is designed using Microsoft .NET framework and thus requires that your system has Microsoft .NET 4.x installed already. For Windows 10 users this is no problem but people using earlier versions of Windows will have to install it manually.
HyperCrypt has a fresh new user interface and offers all the tools such as encryption or decryption of files/folders from there. You can choose one of the tools to proceed. But for encryption, you should first set an encryption key (password) from under the Encryption Options section. There are options to use HCV file in place of an encryption key so that you don’t have to remember the encryption key. You can generate the HCV file using Hyper Crypt from under the Other Tools section.
It can encrypt the files using AES-256 and RSA ciphers. For hashing, it can use algorithms like SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, HMAC-SHA-256, HMAC-SHA-384, and HMAC-SHA-512. When finding the hashes, it gives you options to compare with files or with hashes copied to the clipboard.
If you fail to understand any of the features of this small portable application, you would be happy to find out that this tool comes with a manual of its own. The manual explains all the features offers by this tool in great detail. It even goes through to the various errors that this application may display on your screen.
