GiliSoft Secure Disc Creator is a software for creating secure CD/DVD discs or ISO images. These secure discs are password protected and can be used to backup your private or personal files on CD or DVD discs without having to worry about anyone accessing them without your permission.
It creates two regions on a CD disc – protected and unprotected. The unprotected area on the CD is visible to everyone as usual. But the protected area on the CD is not visible until you enter the correct password. This also makes the secure discs very stealthy in nature as without prior knowledge about the protected discs, nobody would have any reason to look for protected data on these discs. They would check the discs, find some files (from unprotected public area) and think that there is nothing else.
In order to create such secure password protected discs, you will have to launch GiliSoft Secure Disc Creator and then click on the Add Files button under the SecureDisc Maker section. This will open a new window where you can add files to protected and unprotected public areas of the disc. Clicking on the Make Image button will start the disc image (ISO file) creation process. Of course, you will have to enter a password for securing the contents of the protected area.
Once you have ISO disc image file ready, you can use ISO Burner section to burn this image to a blank CD or DVD. You can also use any other third-party software like ImgBurn to burn this ISO image. If you do not want to burn it to a physical optical disc, then you can use it as a virtual disc. For using the ISO image as a virtual disc, you can use the Virtual Disc section from where the ISO image can be loaded as a virtual disc drive in Windows File Explorer.
When the disc is loaded or is mounted as a virtual drive, you will see the public area and all the public area contents would be visible. But if you want to view the secure protected area, then you will have to launch Agent.exe located on the disc and then enter the password used when creating the secure disc image. Upon successful entry of the password, it will create yet another virtual drive where the protected files will be visible.
Even though GiliSoft Secure Disc Creator does not put any limitations in the ISO disc images created by the program in the trial mode, it allows the program to be used only 10 times. Considering the usefulness of the software for making a backup of your personal files, it is well worth the price to buy a license of this software.
