DoYourData File Eraser is a file shredder software for Windows. Using this tool, we can securely erase files from hard drives and other memory storage devices such as memory cards, USB pendrives, external storage drives and more.
It offers a modern user interface with drag-n-drop interface. You can drag the files that you want to erase and then drop them on its window. These files will be added the list of files to be shredded. Alternatively, you can also click on the Add Files button and then choose the files to be shredded. Before you add any files, you should set the secure erase method for DoYourData File Eraser. For this, you can click on the cogwheel icon to the right side of the File Eraser window. In the list of secure erase methods, you can find HMG Infosec Standard 5, U.S. Army AR380-19, DoD 5220.22 ECE, and the popular Peter Gutmann algorithm of 35 overwrites. By default, it uses HMG Infosec Standard 5 for erasing files.
After you have selected one of the secure erase methods and added the files for erasing, you can simply click on the Erase Now button for shredding the files. You will see a progress bar appear on your screen. It will securely erase one file at a time. At the end of the process, it will display the information about how many files were securely erased.
