How to Uninstall Microsoft Edge (Chromium Based) Browser from Windows 10

The new Microsoft Edge browser (Chromium based) comes pre-installed on the new versions of Windows 10. It does not cause any harm to keep it installed on your PC. But if you do not really like it then you can also easily remove it from your PC.

Some users have claimed that Edge browser can be installed from the Apps and Features section in Windows 10 settings. But when you try to uninstall it, you may find the Uninstall button is greyed out and does not work. Now what? Fortunately, there is another way to completely remove Chromium-based Edge browser from Windows 10.

Here is how it is done:

  2. Find a version sub-folder (named after the Edge browser version installed such as 89.0.774.68) in the folder you opened in step 1. Then open another sub-folder inside the version folder named installer. You should be able to see setup.exe in this folder.   3. Launch PowerShell (or Command Prompt) with administrator level access. For this, just click on File and then Open Windows Powershell with administrator in the folder.
  4. In the PowerShell window, paste the path you copied in step 2 by right-clicking in the window. Then append a back slash (\) followed by setup.exe –uninstall –system-level and press Enter.Uninstall Edge Browser from Windows 10
