CyoHash : File Explorer Extension for Calculating File Hashes

CyoHash is a shell extension for Windows File Explorer using which we can easily calculate file hashes. It supports many hashing algorithms such as MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 and also CRC32 checksums. This small application makes it very convenient to calculate file hashes under any Windows PC.

After the installation of CyoHash on your Windows PC, it will add a new item in the context-menu of the File Explorer. Now when you right-click on any file, a group of files or a folder, it will display a new item CyHash in the right-click context-menu.

We can choose a sub-menu from CyoHash context-menu to calculate hashes such as MD5, SHA1, SHA1 (base 32), SHA256, SHA384, SHA512 and CRC32. Depending on what you select, it will show a hash calculation window where the files and their calculated hashes are displayed.

If you choose only one file, then the CyHash window will display only one hash and its corresponding file along with the hash type. In case you select multiple files or a folder, it will generate hashes for all the selected files or for all the files inside that folder.

We can leave the CyoHash window (in which all the calculated hashes are displayed) open, and continue right-clicking on various files in File Explorer to calculate their hashes using CyoHash shell extension. The new hashes for newly selected files will also be displayed in the same window. However, if you keep choosing the same files over and over again, it does not filter the duplicates and keeps adding the same hashes to the list.

CyoHash

CyoHash is a handy shell extension for Windows users for finding the file hashes. Even though it is limited to CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-2 hashes, it is pretty fast in calculation of these hashes.
