FileGee Backup & Sync is a backup software for Windows PC. It offers eight different backup and sync modes. Even though this software is offered in commercial variants, the personal edition of this software is provided free of cost for personal use.
As you launch FileGee Backup & Sync Personal, you are provided with a user interface from where you can create, edit and manage backup jobs. We can start to create new jobs by clicking on the Add Job button in the toolbar. This brings up a wizard like interface which takes us through a series of steps and helps us decide about various options for a backup or sync job.
There are six different types of syncing jobs available and two different types of backup jobs. It offers six syncing jobs including one-way sync, two-way sync, mirror sync, move sync, replace sync, contribute sync. The two types of backups offered are incremental backup and the full backup.
After a type of job is picked, the next thing to choose is the source of the files. We can choose source from local folders, networked folders, Dropbox or FTP locations. In the free version not all types of the source folders can be selected. Afterwards, we have to pick the destination folder where the backup or synced files are to be placed. We can choose to create a ZIP archive for the destination in order to space the storage space.
Once a job has been created it is displayed in the list of the main window in FileGee Backup & Sync. We can select any of the jobs and choose to run it anytime. From under the Tools section, we can choose to recover the files from the incremental backups. Other tools includes encryption of files, splitting and merging of files, and more.
