Automatically Fill PDF Forms with BulkPDF

BulkPDF is a free and open-source application for Windows which facilitates filling of PDF based application forms. All it requires is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file (XLSX) containing all the data that would be used for filling in the PDF forms.

In the Excel file that contains the data, you have to provide a single row for each data set. Each column will have a different value name and the corresponding value. For example, if you want to fill PDF forms for Mary, Lucy and Julie then you have to make three rows in the spreadsheet for these three people. Each row will have column values pertaining to a single person. The PDF application form should be prepared in such as way that all the text fields or lists have a unique ID.

BulkPDF

Once you have your PDF application form and Excel spreadsheet ready, you can launch BulkPDF. It has a wizard like interface which takes you from one step to another. In the first step, you have to select the Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet has to be in the XLSX format which can be created using Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice or Libre Office.

In the next step, you have to select the PDF application form and then match the column value names from spreadsheet to the fields in the PDF file. Once you have done this, you can proceed to the next step and choose to save the PDF file. You have to provide a PDF name and to make it unique one or two of the values from the spreadsheets.

BulkPDF

It is going to create a number of PDF files with the application form already filled. The number of PDF files created is the same as the number of rows in the spreadsheet file. For each row, it creates a new PDF file. These PDF files can be opened in Foxit PDF Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
