Litecoin Core : Open-Source Cryptocurrency Wallet for Litecoin

Litecoin is an open-source cryptocurrency which has become very popular in the recent years. It is the most traded cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. There are many apps available on the Play store for the Android smartphones that allow trading of Litecoin with ease. The reason why Litecoin is enjoying such popularity is because of recent large  investments in the Bitcoin and Litecoin by some elite business tycoons.

They are offering an official open-source application called Litecoin Core using which we can manage our Litecoin wallet, send and receive Litecoins. It is a full node Litecoin client and uses heavy duty encryption to protect your digital money. It stores the transaction history for your Litecoins going back years.

Because it is a full node client, it is going to download the all the data containing the entire Litecoin blockchain which at the present time is over 25 GB in size. The data is so huge because it holds all the details of all the transactions starting from the year 2011 when Litecoin was first invented. You can manage your Litecoin wallet without downloading the full blockchain, but if you want to mine Litecoins on your computer then you have to finish downloading this huge data first.

Litecoin Core

The user interface of Litecoin Core is very user friendly. We can find the various sections such as sending, receiving, and transactions. If we want to send coins to someone, we can simply add the address, choose the amount and proceed. The application also displays your current balance under the overview section.

The open-source Litecoin Core software is available for Windows, Linux and Mac. It works flawlessly and is regularly updated. It can be used to manage our Litecoin wallet and mine more Litecoins if your computer has a real powerful hardware.
