A quick response code or more popularly known by its shortened form QR Code is a two-dimensional bar code. A QR code can be scanned by the bar code scanners as well as smartphones. You can see them everywhere these days including in newspapers, magazines, product wrappers, delivery cardboard boxes, posters, bill boards, and more.
Many of the ID cards issued these days have a QR code on it that can be scanned to verify the authenticity of the ID card. Some really busy restaurants, bars and night clubs ask the users to scan a QR code which puts them in the waiting list. New age payment apps use QR code that can be scanned to make the payment. We can scan QR code to copy contacts from one mobile phone to another or for sharing WiFi details. It can be said that QR code is being used everywhere.
The reason QR code is being used everywhere is because of its ability to contain almost any kind of data. A QR code can contain contact information, plain text, mobile number, email address, message, calendar data, URL link, WiFi network configuration etc.
If you want to create your own QR code, then you can either use our QR Code from Clipboard or you can use a third-party software called QR Code Generator. This latter program is designed using Perl but it is designed for Windows. This is why you have to first install Strawberry Perl on your Windows PC before you can use it.
The user interface of QR Code Generator includes two tabs – in the first tab, you have to enter the source data and the resulting QR code is displayed in the second tab. Basically, you have to type in the text data in the first Data tab. After entering the data, you can click on the Start button in the program window. Now the QR code can be accessed from the Results window. The generated QR code can be saved to an image file of many different formats such as JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF.
In the free version, you cannot change the settings of the QR code (change the way it looks or change its size). You cannot change the type of the data being entered. You can only enter free text.
