A decade ago if someone asked about office software for creating, reading and printing documents, we would all have suggested Microsoft Office. But things have changed since then and more users are now using LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice. But there is yet another alternative challenging the hegemony of Microsoft Office and LibreOffice, it is called Onlyoffice. While LibreOffice, OpenOffice and Onlyoffice are all free and open-source, what makes Onlyoffice different is that it is much faster and handles the system resources in a much better manner.
Support for all Office documents
Onlyoffice is a relatively new Office software suite that focuses on the speed and the cloud connectivity. These are the same qualities which made Google Chrome more popular that Mozilla Firefox. Like LibreOffice it supports all the Microsoft Office document formats are supported (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX). It also supports the OpenOffice document formats (ODT, ODT, ODP, ODG etc) without any problems.
Powerful cloud connectivity
OnlyOffice offers a cloud account of its own. For personal use it is free and you can keep your presentations there. The benefit of using a cloud storage is that you can access your documents from anywhere in the world. In addition, we can also connect other popular cloud storage service provider accounts such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, ownCloud, nextCloud etc. The documents stored on cloud can be accessed using a Chrome web browser extension and we can work through the web app version of the OnlyOffice.
Available for all the desktop and mobile platforms
Onlyoffice is available for all the usual platforms such as Windows, macOS and many flavors of Linux. It also offers mobile apps for Android and iPhone. In addition, they also offer app for Huawei app store. For the people who want to make changes to the software, they can access the source-code of Onlyoffice desktop application or mobile app from its Github repository.
