All of the engineering students have to study about using the mechanical drawing software. While Autodesk AutoCAD is the most popular for learning about computer aided design, it is not the only one. There are many others such as ZWCAD which are as good as the ones from Autodesk.
Just like AutoCAD, ZWCAD is also computer aided design program but it is based on the popular IntelliCAD framework. ZWCAD is being designed and released by ZWSOFT, the founder of ODA (Open Design Alliance), associated in the ITC consortium ( IntelliCAD Technology Consortium).
ZWCAD is a 2D designing software and but also comes with 3D visualization features. It allows you to create two-dimensional designs (2D) and spatial three-dimensional models (3D). It is distinguished by very good compatibility with the DWG format used by the AutoCAD system and support for the AutoLISP language. The program allows you to load raster images, run VBA scripts, repair damaged files, and more.
ZWCAD has been designed for easy switching from AutoCAD over to ZWCAD. The similarity to the AutoCAD interface means that you do not have to learn how to use the program from scratch when working with an Autodesk solution before. The commands used in ZWCAD are also very much the same as in AutoCAD.
ZWCAD is fully compatible with most files created by AutoCAD. Just like AutoCAD its main saving format is DWG. In addition, it uses all files from the CAD platform because it is being powered by the IntelliCAD framework.
The program supports a feature called STB/CTB “Print Styles”, and allows you to save all print settings to a file. It is also able to import all the settings from an existing DWG, DWT and DXF file. It can also export to the PDF files.
