How to Remove Macrium Reflect Boot Menu from Windows

Macrium Reflect is a system level backup software that can create a backup of your files, entire drives, and the Windows installations. It makes restoring from the backup very easy through the backup archives. It can also install a Windows PE with its own boot menu entry in Windows.

Whenever we want to restore from a disk image or backup created by Macrium Reflect, we can use this boot menu to boot into the Macrium Reflect interface. This way we can restore Windows installations and more.

But if you have uninstalled Macrium Reflect from your Windows system because you found some other backup software very useful, you may still find this boot menu entry lingering around. If you choose this boot entry even after uninstalling Macrium Reflect from your system, nothing will happen and PC will loop back to the boot menu screen.

If you do not want this “Macrium Reflect System Recovery” on your Windows PC’s boot menu, then you can easily delete it. Here is how:

  1. Press the hotkey Win+R to bring up the Run dialog.
  2. In the Run dialog, type msconfig and press Enter.Delete Macrium Reflect Boot Entry
  3. You will see a new window appear with title “System Configuration”. Select the tab labeled Boot.
  4. In the list of boot entries select “Macrium Reflect System Recovery” and then click on Delete.Delete Macrium Reflect Boot Entry
  5. Click on the OK button to close the System Configuration window and restart Windows.

When you restart Windows, you should not be able to see the Macrium Reflect boot entry anymore.

In the future if you install Macrium Reflect on your Windows PC once again, you will have to reinstall the WinPE environment as well as the boot menu yourself. For this, you can click on the “Rescue” icon in Macrium Reflect window. After this you can choose the option to add Macrium Reflect  to the Windows boot menu.
