Color Era : Pick Color of Any Pixel on Your Computer Screen

Color Era is a Windows application that helps the users pick the color of any pixel on your computer screen. It copies the color codes to the clipboard so that it can be used easily in any other graphics or web editor.

Color Era is not a portable application and even though it has a GitHub presence, it does not offer any source code. It is available in form of a setup installer package. After the installation, we can launch Color Era from its desktop shortcut.

In order to capture a color from your PC screen, you have to first click on the “Ready to Capture” button displayed in its window. Now as you move your mouse cursor, the color of the pixel under the cursor will be displayed in the Color Era window. In order to capture the color and stop capturing, you have to press the left Shift key on your keyboard.

It also displays the opposite color in the window. The opposite color is calculated by subtracting RGB values from 255. For example, if the the pixel color is (164, 77, 97) then the opposite color will be (255-164, 255-77, 255-97) or (91, 178, 158).

Color Era comes with some more tools that also help the users pick a color of their choice. In the tools, it features color lists, manual selector, and gradient image generator. The color lists are basically a long list of the popular or often used colors, their names and their RGB values. The manual picker is similar to the color selection dialog of the Windows operating system.

In the settings, we can find that can make using Color Era even much easier. We can set it to start capturing the color as soon as it is launched. This saves us from the trouble of clicking on the”Ready to Capture” button. We can also make it remember the last color that was captured.

In conclusion, we can say that Color Era is a very productive and helpful application for capturing the colors from anywhere on the screen. It can be very useful for the graphics designers and web developers.
