If you have entered wrong user name and organization name when installing Windows, do not worry, you can change it anytime you want. Same applies if you have bought an older computer and the owner name and organization is set to different. You can change it anytime you want following these easy instructions :
First of all you should know how to view your current owner and company name. You can read how to open about windows dialog in Windows Vista to view your current owner and company name.
To change the owner and the company name :
- Press the keyboard combination Windows logo key + R to bring up the Run dialog. In Run dialog, type regedit.exe and press Enter to start the Windows Registry editor.
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion
- In the right-side pane, You would find two values named RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization. The value RegisteredOwner hold the owner name for your computer and the value RegisteredOrganization holds the company name for your computer. Double click on these values and change the values to anything you want.
- Changes would be immediately made, and you can verify by opening an About Dialog.
