Google is the internet giant company offering dozens of free services like e-mail, search engine, bookmarks and many others. If you do not want to manually type the address for each service, each time you use it, then Google Shortcuts add-on is for you. Using this add-on in Firefox you can access all the Google services with the click of a mouse button. Here is how :
- Visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3576/ in your Firefox browser.
- Click on the link labeled Add to Firefox as shown,
- Click on the Install Now button as shown,
- Follow the process and restart Firefox to finish the installation.
After the installation of the Google Shortcuts add-on and restarting the Firefox browser, you are ready to use it. Upon restart you would see many buttons near the location bar in Mozilla Firefox.
You can click on these icons to open a tab for the respective Google service. You can also customize which Google service buttons are to be shown in the toolbar. Click on the Settings button in the extreme right among the Google Shortcuts. You would see a window pop-up with lots of Google services listed on the left-side list and services to be shown in Firefox toolbar in the right-side list.
You can select a service from the left-side list and click on the green right arrow to show it in the toolbar. If you want to remove a service to be shown, select it from the right-side list and click on the yellow left arrow. Finally, click the Save settings button at the bottom to save the settings.
If you think these buttons are taking too much space on the Firefox toolbar, you can choose to show Google Shortcuts as a drop down menu rather than as buttons bar. Click on the Settings button in the extreme right among the Google Shortcuts. Then choose the Advanced Options tab in the Settings window. Select the As dropdown menu option as shown,
Click the Save settings button at the bottom to save the settings.
