Disable Proxy Servers in Internet Explorer

The proxy servers setting in the Internet Explorer is used not only by Internet Explorer itself by many other programs like Google Chrome browser. If you have set proxy servers in Internet Explorer or some malware has set malicious proxy servers in Internet Explorer, then you can disable them easily and connect to the internet directly. Here is how you can disable proxy servers in Internet Explorer :

  1. Open the Internet Explorer browser. Click on the gears like icon on the top-right corner and select Internet Options from the drop-down menu.

  2. In the Internet Options window, select the Connections tab and click on the LAN settings button.

  3. Un-check the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN. Then click the OK button to save the settings.

  4. Restart the Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

You can also download the registry entries file to disable the proxy servers in Internet Explorer. Just download the registry entries file disable_proxy_internet_explorer.zip. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to a folder. Then double-click on the disable_proxy_internet_explorer.reg and choose Yes when asked. This will automatically disable the proxy servers in the Internet Explorer browser. When you start Internet Explorer the next time, it will not be using any proxy server.

Note : The above steps also apply for the Google Chrome browser as it uses the proxy server settings from the Internet Explorer.
