You can choose to start the application minimized to the notification area. By default, AutoHideDesktopIcons does not hide the taskbar when it hides the desktop icons. But you can choose to hide the taskbar along with the desktop icons by checking the Hide Taskbar checkbox in the settings. This makes the hiding effect even more eye pleasing.
