Chameleon Shutdown application is a free tool that allows you to conditionally shutdown Windows like at a specific time, after some delay, when PC is idle for some time, when CPU usage drops below certain level or closure of a certain program etc.
Chameleon Shutdown is a freeware Windows application that allows you to switch off, restart, hibernate the computer and perform other operations both immediately and when certain conditions are met (specific time, delay, idle time, CPU usage, closure of a certain program). You can add multiple conditions without limitation. The user interface of Chameleon Shutdown supports skins and is very easy to use.
You can download Chameleon Shutdown from the Neosoft Tools website. The download is a around 1.5 megabytes in size. It is available in form of an installer. After the installation, the application would run automatically. The user interface is very basic and simple to use. It contains six large buttons – one each for shutdown, restart, sleep, hibernate, lock and log off.
When you hover your mouse over a button, you would see options to perform that action right now or perform that action using some parameters. If you click on the Right Now, then the selected action would be executed immediately. But if you want to run that action after some condition is met, then click on the With parameters. This would open a window where you can set conditions to execute the selected action.
In this condition window, you can set various conditions like specific time, delay, idle time, CPU usage or the closure of a certain program. If you are not satisfied with setting just one condition then you can also combine multiple conditions. To add more conditions, you can click on the More at the bottom of the window and then choose Add additional condition.
After you have set all the conditions you want, just click on the Start button. The Chameleon Shutdown application would minimize itself to the notification area. If later you want to stop the Chameleon Shutdown from executing the selected action, then you can double-click on the notification area icon and then click on the Stop button.
