We have earlier written about the Chrome Eraser application which helps you reset the Chrome configuration data. Now Google has added an option to reset the web browser in the Chrome settings itself. Using the reset option in Chrome, you can reset the Chrome browser settings back to their original default values. Here is how :
- Click on the customize icon in the Chrome toolbar on the right side and select Settings from the popup menu. As an alternative, you can also type chrome://settings in the location bar and press Enter.
- In the Settings page that opens, type reset in the search box. This would narrow down the options displayed to only the browser resetting related settings. Click on the Reset browser settings button.
- This would open the Reset browser settings window where you can click on the Reset button to reset your browser settings to original default values. This action is irreversible and cannot be undone.
It would reset your homepage, new tab page and search engine, disable your extensions and unpin all tabs. It will also clear other temporary and cached data, such as cookies, content and site data. In short, it will turn your Chrome browser back to its virgin settings as if you have just installed it.
