QR code is a nice way to embed text, website links and images into a machine readable code. The QR codes can be easily decoded using a compatible app in your smartphone. The Android and iOS based mobile devices come with an in-built QR code reader. All you have to do is run the app in your mobile device and point your camera at the QR code. If you are a Firefox user and you want to create your own QR codes, then you can turn any selectable image, link or text into QR code using the free Firefox extension called QrCodeR.
You can install the QrCodeR extension from the Mozilla add-ons website. The installation of this add-on does not require you to restart the web browser and it can be used immediately after the installation. After the installation, if you right-click on a selected text, link or image, then you would see a new context-menu item – Encode Image to QrCode, Encode Selection to QRCode or Encode URL to QrCode.
If you select this option, it will quickly convert the selected text, link or the image into a QR code and display it in your web browser. Hovering over the QR code would show you the URL of the item that you have just converted into the code. If you want to save the converted QR code on your local hard disk, then just click on the QR code image. It would quickly save the QR code in the PNG image format.
So if you want to quickly turn any image, URL or text into a QR code easily, then you can make use of the QrCodeR extension in Firefox. It is a lightweight and simple to use QR code converter.
You can download and install the QrCodeR add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/.
