These days you have to be very careful when installing the software downloaded from the internet. Some of the programs come bundled with unwanted browser toolbars and malicious add-ons that can track your online activities, invade your online privacy, display unwanted advertisements and redirect you to unsolicited search pages. This type of browser add-ons and toolbars can be very annoying as most of them are installed in a very sneaky manner. The free Anvi Slim Toolbar can be used to remove such toolbars and extensions from your web browsers in both the real time and manual modes.
Soon after the installation, Anvi Slim Toolbar starts to provide your PC with real-time protection from known unsolicited toolbars, detects them and removes them. A small notification is shown near the system tray of Windows desktop to the effect.
You can launch the Anvi Slim Toolbar interface from the system tray icon or the desktop shortcut from where you can choose to manually scan your PC by clicking on the Scan button. During the scan it will scan all of the major web browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) for add-ons and toolbars.
The scan takes a little time to start, but once it is running it does not take much time to finish the scanning. On my test Windows 8.1 PC, it did not find anything in all the three supported web browsers.
Using the Manage button from the main interface, you can launch the toolbars & add-ons manager for all the supported web browsers. It scans all these web browsers and lists all the extensions or toolbars it detects. You can select one or more of the items and click on Remove to get rid of any of these detected items.
Anvi Slim Toolbar also has a browser repair feature which can be used to fix the homepage and search engine settings for the supported web browsers. This is useful when toolbars change the homepage and the search engine of your browsers without your knowledge.
Anvi Slim Toolbar has a real-time guard that keeps monitoring the toolbars and extensions installed for any of the web browsers on your PC. If it finds that a malicious plugin has found its way into your web browser, it quickly removes it and notifies you. You can change the guard options from the Anvi Slim Toolbar settings window.
Conclusion: Anvi Slim Toolbar can protect you from the unsolicited or malicious toolbars, add-ons and plug-ins from being installed in your web browsers (Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer). It provides both real-time protection and the manual scanning for toolbars and plug-ins.
