Get Free VPN Proxy for Chrome or Firefox with Hotspot Shield Extension

Hotspot Shield is a well know VPN connection provider for all the popular operating systems including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Usually, you have to download and install the Hotspot Shield software so that all the applications in your PC can connect to the internet via the VPN server. But if you do not want to have the VPN connection for all the programs and want the VPN proxy only for the web browser, then you have the option to install a browser extension for Chrome or Firefox. The Hotspot Shield extension for browsers is perhaps the easiest way to anonymize your internet access, change your IP address and browser the web in a much safer manner.

After installing the Hotspot Shield extension in your browser (we tested it in Chrome), it places an icon in the browser toolbar. You can click on this icon to view the VPN proxy status and click on the flip switch to toggle the proxy on or off. In the free version, it does not allow you to manually choose the location of the VPN servers. Instead a random VPN server is selected for you. However in the paid version, you are able to choose a VPN server location from US, UK, France, Denmark, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and Singapore.

If you do not want the VPN proxy to work for all the sites opened in your web browser but only for a single website, then you can open that website and then switch the VPN connection status from “All Sites” to only that website address. After this, all websites opened in other tabs will be opened directly without using any VPN proxy.
