ShanaEncoder Uses FFMPEG to Encode/Convert Media Files

ShanaEncoder is a Korean software that makes use of the popular FFMPEG to easily convert video formats and to encode videos suitable for various devices. For example, if you want to play your videos on Samsung Galaxy devices, then ShanaEncoder can prepare your videos to be played without any problems in a few seconds. Similarly, you can convert videos for Apple devices and other media players. ShanaEncoder has a very minimal and straightforward user interface and does not confuse you with tons of options to choose from. But if you want to fine tune the conversion settings, then it allows you to do that as well.

ShanaEncoder uses a custom modified version of FFMPEG which is downloaded during the installation. The custom version of FFMPEG is stored on the sourceForge website and is different for both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows. The file names for FFMPEG are also changed, so you cannot use regular FFMPEG binaries in place of the modified version of FFMPEG – which is a disappointment especially if you already have the latest version of FFMPEG installed on your PC.

The interface for the ShanaEncoder is as easy as it can be – you have to add media files to the list of to-be-converted/encoded files. You can just drag-n-drop media files on the ShanaEncoder window to finish the adding of the files. Next, you have to choose the output configuration from a list of presets on the right side. And then finally, you can click on the Start button to initiate the conversion/encoding process.

If you do not want to use the output settings from the list of presets then you can click on the Quick Settings button and manually choose the encoding settings, audio settings, add subtitles, and more. The coolest feature is that you can add the subtitles inside the video itself so you won’t need any external subtitle file.

Conclusion: ShanaEncoder is a free and easy to use media encoder software that uses FFMPEG to convert or encode your media files to the most popular video and audio formats.
