Easily Control Microphone in Windows Using MicMute

MicMute is a small but very useful tool for all the Windows users as it allows you to control the microphone in a very convenient manner. Just like you can mute and unmute the speaker volume from Windows system tray, MicMute lets you mute and unmute the microphone from the system tray. It installs a microphone icon in the system tray and you can use this to mute or unmute the microphone.

But there are many more features being offered by this simple and small tool. You can right-click on the system tray icon to explore these features. The first option Microphone Mute from this system tray menu can be used to mute and unmute the microphone. As the microphone is muted a notification is displayed to the effect and similarly when the microphone is unmuted another notification is displayed. The MicMute icon also changes from red to black to indicate the status of the microphone.

If you have more than one microphone then you can configure which of the devices are controlled by MicMute by selecting Devices section from the system tray menu. You can choose to start the MicMute with Windows so that you can control microphone without having to launch it manually. You can enable Start Muted to ensure that microphone is muted as long as MicMute is launched.

The program also has an interesting transmitter mode where you have to press a certain keyboard combination in order to enable the microphone. As long as you are pressing this key combination, the microphone will be unmuted. And when you are not pressing these keys, it will be muted. But for this to work, you have to set up the keyboard shortcut first.

MicMute is definitely a very useful program for everyone who does not want a hot microphone and someone listening on to the open microphone. MicMute allows you to quickly mute or unmute the microphone from the system tray in Windows.
