When Apple coined the term podcast, they perhaps didn’t know that they are starting a new revolution in the way we consume the audio media. As soon as you launch the app, you are greeted with a group of podcasts that Google thinks you would like. The podcasts on the welcome screen are categorized as trending podcasts, top podcasts, top podcasts in comedy and so on. You can tap on any of these podcasts and it will display a list of all the episodes or tracks for that particular podcast. You can subscribe to that podcast or you can just tap on any of the episodes to start listening to it.
If you check the information for a specific podcast episode, you can find the options for downloading that episode on your local smartphone storage. This option is very helpful if you do not want to use the mobile data and want to download the podcasts when you are using a WiFi access point. In the settings of the app, you can select for how many days the downloaded episodes are kept on your local storage.
