Ubisoft is giving away Anno 1602, a game that was released in 1998. It is city building game similar to Simcity that was also released around the same time by Electronics Arts. While Simcity games present you an opportunity to build cities in the year 2000 and 3000, Anno 1602 takes you back in the beginning of the seventeenth century. In the seventeenth century, many navigators were trying to travel and discover new lands beyond the vast oceans. The Ubisoft game Anno 1602 works on this fantasy and offers you a city that you can build in the new-found lands of America or Australia.
Anno 1602 is free for download only from the Ubisoft online stores meant for the UK region between December 17th and December 22nd 2018. The free game available for download is the Standard Edition of Anno 1602 and can be played on latest Windows computers.
Anno 1602 is known as 1602 A.D. in the United States. After its immense success, Ubisoft released many of other installments of the Anno series. It has been 20 years since the original Anno 1602 was released. Since Ubisoft is going to release a new installment in the Anno series in the year 2019 called Anno 1800, they are celebrating the two events by making the original Anno 1602 completely free for a few days.
In the game, you start with a piece of land and start to colonize it, build up the cities, address the problems that you come across and start a great economy. If you like the slow, city building games then you can have many days of fun with Anno 1602. It can also be a nostalgia walk back into the memory lane of your old days when you played it on your Windows 95 computer. For the new kids, they might take a peek into the past as it existed for their parents.
