Mini Calculator : Minimal and Simple Calculator for Windows

Almost thirty five years ago, when Microsoft Windows 1.0 was released it came with a basic calculator program. As time passed, the calculator app (calc.exe) became better and had many more features added to it. Until Windows 7 or 8.x, the calculator app was designed to be small, fast and efficient application. But starting with Windows 10, Calculator became sort of bloated even though it was modernized.

Some of the old timers did not like the new look of the Microsoft Calculator app. They wanted to use the old Windows 7 or Windows 8.x style Calculator and consequently we wrote how to run Windows 8.1 Calculator on Windows 10.

However, if you do not want to run Windows 8.1 calculator on Windows 10 or cannot find the files for the process, you can still get a minimal and fast calculator called Mini Calculator. This calculator is a portable application and does not require any installation on your PC.

When we launch Mini Calculator, it opens in the standard mode. But we can right-click on it and choose Scientific to switch over to the scientific mode. In the regular mode, it displays only basic arithmetic operators such as multiplication, addition, subtraction and division. In the scientific mode, it displays advanced operators such as trigonometric functions.

All the calculations are displayed in the side strip so that you can keep a track of longer calculations involving many steps. We can right-click on this strip to copy its contents to the clipboard or save it to a text file on your hard drive. We can clear this strip’s contents using the same context-menu.
