We all are familiar with the desktop backgrounds or wallpapers in Windows. We love to set our favorite pictures as our Windows desktop backgrounds. But now people are spending more time using their web browser so why not set your favorite pictures as browser backgrounds. Now you can change the backgrounds for your Firefox web browser using the Browser Backgrounds add-on. This add-on lets you set background images for the newly opened tabs in Firefox. You can also set random backgrounds for each new tab.
You can download and install the Browser Backgrounds Firefox extension from the Mozilla Firefox add-ons website. On the add-on page, you can click on the green colored Add to Firefox button to start the installation. After restarting the Firefox browser, you would be ready to use this new add-on. You can test it by opening a new tab by pressing the hotkey Ctrl + T or by clicking on the new tab button. The Browser Backgrounds add-on comes with a few background images already added, so the new tab would have a random background image assigned to it.
If you want to add your own images then you can click on the green colored cube button on the right-side in the Firefox toolbar. This would open the Browser Backgrounds images collections. The images are categorized in different collections like Firefox, Movies and Generic. If you want to create a new collection (category), then click on the New Collection and type in the name for new collection. If you want to add pictures to one of these collections, then first select one of the collections and then click on the Add button on the top. Now you can browse and select any picture on your hard disk that you want to add to the images collection.
If you right-click on a newly opened tab, then you would see a context-menu with many options to customize the browser background. Using this context-menu, you can change the background color, background image size, and background image position for the currently displayed background. The option to change the background position is very handy as it lets you drag a large picture and adjust which part of it you want to display in the new tab background.
This add-on does not have many options. In the options for Browser Backgrounds add-on, there is only one setting – to disable randomization of the background images. This setting is not selected by default, and it should be left as it is.
The Browser Backgrounds add-on allows you to add your favorite pictures to your favorite web browser. It is a great add-on to make your web browsing experience more exciting and fun. You can add hundreds of pictures to your backgrounds collection including pictures from your hard disk and the pictures from the Browser Backgrounds website.
You can download and install the Browser Backgrounds add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/…/browser-backgrounds/.
