Microsoft has released the final major April 2018 update for Windows 10 and now you can download Windows 10 version 1803 to your computer to update it yourself. But after installing the update, you will find out that Microsoft has added many new settings on top of the existing ones in order to promote their content or products. These “notifications” or advertisements (as users prefer to call them) can be displayed on your lock-screen, inside the File Explorer window and some other places. Here are a few ways to disable them:
- Press Win+I to open settings.
- Select Personalization and then Lockscreen.
- Select Picture as your Lockscreen background.
- Toggle off the setting – Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lockscreen.
- Open any folder on your computer.
- Press Alt+F and then select Options.
- Select the View tab and disable the setting Show sync provider notifications.
- Press Win+I to open settings.
- Select System and then Notifications & actions.
- Toggle off the setting – Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows.
O&O ShutUp10 can automatically make all the changes in the Windows so that you do not have to hop from one window to another. In the O&O ShutUp10 window you can search for “advertise” and it will display all the settings responsible for showing undesired ads or notifications. You can also quickly make all the changes by clicking on Actions and then selecting Apply only recommended settings.
After apply any of these settings, you might have to restart your Windows PC so that all the changes take effect. If you still see these undesired notifications then you can either report the matter to Microsoft or use the DWS tool that could be a little more effective in these matters.
