Windows 10 comes with some of the desktop wallpapers and themes pre-installed, but clearly they are not enough for the users who like to make their Windows desktop look beautiful with newer wallpapers all the time. Of course, you can use any JPEG picture as your desktop wallpaper, but you can also download and install new themes from the Microsoft web site that hosts hundreds of Windows themes and each of the themes comes with dozens of mesmerizing desktop backgrounds.
If you want to download and install new themes in Windows 10 then you can follow these steps:
- Use any web browser and navigate to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/themes.
- On this web page, you can find hundreds of themes neatly divided into various categories like animals, art, games, movies, places, plants and more. Find a theme that you like and then download it to your Windows desktop.
- Double-click on the downloaded theme file and it will be instantly installed in your Windows. The newly installed theme is also selected and applied automatically. It also opens the Personalization settings window where you can choose any of the installed themes.
- Later when you want to change the wallpaper from this new theme open the Personalization settings, you can do so by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop and select Next desktop background and Personalization respectively.
As you can see, it is very easy to download and install the new themes in Windows 10. But make sure that you download new themes only from the official Microsoft website. The themes downloaded from unknown places not digitally signed and will not be installed. Besides such third party themes may contain harmful or unwanted software.
