Today we have tons of cloud storage services which are great for backing up the files on your hard disk to cloud storage as well as syncing them. But what if you want to backup an online item (like an image, PDF file, ZIP file etc. available on a site) to cloud storage? There is an extension called Cloud Save for Chrome browser, that lets you backup a file directly to your cloud storage service without any need of downloading them first.

Mozilla Firefox has a feature called Do Not Track which requests websites that you do not want to be tracked when enabled. But websites may refuse to honor your wishes and continue to track your browsing behavior. You can use Google Privacy addon which forces Google and other websites trackers to respect your wish of not being tracked. At the time of writing this article, it supports Google, facebook, Yahoo!, Bing and Youtube. In the future, more trackers and sites might be added.

MiMedia is a new cloud storage service that provides 7 gigabytes of free storage space for your various needs. For now, it provides clients for Windows, iPhone and iPad only but they claim to come up with a Mac client in the near future. In addition to the desktop and mobile clients, MiMedia storage can also be accessed using their web interface.

A jumplist appears when you right-click on an apps icon in the Windows 7 taskbar. The Firefox jumplist shows a list of most frequently visited websites. This can become a privacy issue when you share your computer with others. With just a right-click on the Firefox icon, they can find out which sites you spend most time on. In that case, it is a good idea to disable this feature in Firefox.

While the Autofill feature in Google Chrome browser is one of the best among the auto-complete features in various browsers, it may pose a security and privacy risk if you share your computer with others. You can also add some sites to be always opened using the Internet Explorer engine.

Norton Safety Minder is a free program from the Symantec Corporation. It allows you to manage, monitor and block the sites your children visit. If your children try to browse a blocked site, you would be notified by email. You can block sites, restrict computer time, monitor social networking and more to keep your kids safe online.

Now Gmail allows you to use your own pictures as Gmail background. By setting your own custom image in Gmail as its background, you can personalize Gmail even more. You can upload and use pictures of your family, friends and loved ones to be used as Gmail background. You can also choose a background from Featured images section which contains high quality photos taken by professional photographers.

Facebook has assigned everyone a random free facebook email ending in @facebook.com. You are free to customize your facebook email address. When someone sends an email message to this facebook email address, the message appears on your timeline. By default, it is visible to everyone on your timeline.
