Windows XP Control Panel has two views – category and classic. The category view lists items grouped according to their behavior or functionality. The classic view lists all the items in the same window. You can toggle between the two views easily.

Two of the most exciting features in Windows 7 are Aero Shake and Aero Snap. The Aero Shake feature allows you to shake a window and all other windows will be minimized. If you shake it again, then all other windows will be restored. In the Aero Snap, you can dock a window to any edge of your screen, by dragging it to that edge. Now, you can enjoy these features in Windows XP too.

If you want your desktop to look beautiful, then you can place an eye catching wallpaper. But all the desktop icons over it, make it look clumsy. You can choose to hide the desktop icons to bring out the beauty of your Windows desktop.

If you use a program very often, then you would want to pin it on Start Menu. Windows XP has a a new start menu in which you can pin programs on the top-left.

Windows shows the clock in the bottom-right corner of computer screen. It is a great tool to keep you informed of the current time, but some people find it irritating. if you are one of them, then you can chose to hide it.

When you have many open windows at the same time and you want to switch to some other window, you can press the key combination Alt + Tab to switch through all the open windows. Microsoft has released a new Task Switcher for Windows XP as a replacement for old ugly looking Task Switcher.

There are many times you want to resize your images in Windows. For example, if the pictures you took with your digital camera are too big, then you may want to resize them. You can resize them with Microsoft’s Image Resizer powertoy in Windows XP.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 has a feature to automatically change the wallpaper. But you can install Microsoft Powertoy Wallpaper Changer to give the same functionality of automatically change the wallpapers in Windows XP too.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 come with a sidebar in which you can install gadgets like clock, weather information etc. But Windows XP lacks this feature. But worry no more, you can install a free third party sidebar in Windows XP. This sidebar works just like the Windows Vista or Windows 7 sidebar.
