Like all the other moderns browsers Firefox 4 has also added support for utilizing GPU for video and animation playback on a webpage. This is called hardware acceleration and is enabled by default. But if you have a low end graphics card then it can make videos play very slow and you may have to disable hardware acceleration. After you have disabled the hardware acceleration, Firefox would use software rendering for all web page contents. Here is how you can disable hardware acceleration in Firefox 4 web browser :
- Run Firefox web browser.
- Click on the orange colored Firefox box on the top-left and select Firefox → Options → Options
- In the Options window, select the Advanced → General tab. Then un-check the checkbox labeled Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Click OK to save the settings.
